ICI Pingsters attendance to “Love to Write”

by: Flor Ybanez

The Pingsters from Iligan, Cagayan, and Kapatagan together with their adviser attended the seminar on Journalism Seminar Workshop last August 23, 2014 with the theme: “LOVE TO WRITE” at Annex 2, ICI-Iligan.

The seminar was conducted by our very own adviser Mam Beves Kintanar with the topics on Basic English and Journalism; and School News Writing and Ethics with Mike Maestrado, of ICI-Bugo.  All of us were encouraged to share our ideas, thoughts to understand the use of English Language.

The question was asked- Why do we speak English? Or why do we like to write in English? We have to speak in English because it is our official language here in the Philippines. But to write in English? Yes! We must. Because it is the only way to express what we can’t express in our own dialect.

Pingsters actively participated in the given exercises to develop the knowledge in the English Language and how to use it in communicating people. We learned to analyze basic grammar flaws, spelling, and other basic rules of the parts of speech. The aim of the seminar is to enhance writing skills and to learn to appreciate the English Language in writing. Engaging more ideas about journalism is a must as a writer.  We should not hesitate to express our thoughts or feelings. Just go with the flow to write and you will love to write everything you want. To build a good write-up with good grammar stimulates reader’s interest.

Everyone is thankful since despite of the distance. Pingsters equally enjoyed and learned a lot. A day of learning and enjoyment is truly unforgettable.
