The Ping Pub Ranks 3rd for Best in Magazine Contest in TINTA AWARDS 2013

ICI’s Official School Publication, The Ping gains recognition as 3rd runner-up for Best in Magazine in Tinta Awards 2013 last February 23, 2013 at Villa Lacida, Linamon, Lanao del Norte. The awarding for best campus papers is conducted along with the Lanao-Wide Student Press Conference for Campus Journalists from February 21-24, 2013 in the same venue.  The College Editors Guild of the Philippines (CEGP) Lanao Chapter organizes the conference and the Tinta Awards to promote campus press journalism and to give recognition to publications in Lanao and other parts of Northern Mindanao. The organization also aims to uphold the highest standards and ethics of journalism and to instill in student journalists a sense of social responsibility and nationalism.

The Ping Publication falls under the Best in Magazine category. Other categories include Best in Tabloid, Best in Broadsheet, Best in Alternative Form, Best in Website and Best in Literary Folio. The 1st placer for Best in Magazine comes from the Mindanao Varsitarian of MSU-Main Campus. The 2nd placer goes to Blue Sash of Lourdes College in CDO and the Bidlisiw from the College of Social Sciences and Humanities of MSU-Main Campus ranks as 4th placer. Moreover, the 1st placer for Best in Literary Folio goes to Mire of Lourdes College. Other categories mentioned did not acquire recognitions due to lack of entries.

 

The entries from different categories are submitted upon the arrival at the venue. Speakers of lectures and trainings on Journalism Skills Workshops from MSU-Main Campus, MSU-IIT and in Luzon are the ones who fairly judge and evaluate the publications. In addition to, each entry from every category is judge based on the following criteria: 50% for Aesthetics and 50% for Content.

It’s the first time that The Ping Publication joins the CEGP Lanao Student Press Conference and the Tinta Awards for 2013. It is such an honor and privilege for the school to be part of the prestigious event. There are lessons learned for ICI participants on how to improve its publication considering the lay-out and content.  The Ping Pub is looking forward for the best in the next Tinta Awards.
