In cooperation with the Iligan City Local Government and Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation of Iligan Inc., Iligan City held its “Made in Iligan Trade Fair” last April 10, 2013 in City Public Plaza where ICI was one of the most active participants. This trade fair was organized due to the City Ordinance 11-5745 which lead to the making of the Iligan City Business Registry Databank or ICBRD. ICBRD is a registry system that stores all data of Iligan’s local businesses for the purpose of promoting the Iligan City’s local products.
With the event starting at exactly 3:00 PM, Sir Michael Lagcao who is the chairman of the event and the representative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation of Iligan Inc. gave the opening remarks. Then another talk was given by Ma’am Armien P. Alorro who was Hon. Counsilor Frederick Siao’s representative for this event. They emphasized how Iliganons must patronize and buy the city’s local products and services for the good of the city and the people.
The theme for this event was “Showcasing the Best of Iligan”. And ICI being an institute that started in Iligan City, ICI participated with the full support of the HRM Students and faculty members. After the whole opening ceremony, the crowd gathered and cheered for the presentation given by ICI faculty member Sir Dexter Y. Panen Jr. He, together with his colleagues, entertained and amazed the whole City Public Plaza with their Bartending exhibition. After that ICI HRM Culinary Instructor Chef Roseller S. Fiel did a cooking demonstration using Iligan city’s local products as ingredients. People from all ages watched and enjoyed all activities held in the ICI booth especially when ICI allowed a free taste of the displayed treats and deserts made by the students.
ICI really showcased the international talents and skills of their faculties as well as students. And what’s best in it is that it all started here in our beloved Iligan City.
